Description

Kirchhoff’s laws are fundamental rules used to analyze electrical circuits and determine unknown currents, voltages, and power relationships. This course explains Kirchhoff’s Current Law (KCL) and Kirchhoff’s Voltage Law (KVL), including the conservation principles behind each law and how they are applied to electrical networks.

You will learn the essential circuit terms of nodes, branches, and loops, along with reference current directions and voltage polarities. The course explains how KCL is used to analyze current relationships at circuit nodes and how KVL is used to calculate voltage rises and drops around closed loops.

The course also introduces nodal analysis and mesh analysis, showing how Kirchhoff’s laws can be combined with Ohm’s law to solve more complex circuits. Power relationships, practical measurement considerations, common calculation errors, and the limitations of Kirchhoff’s laws in high-frequency and distributed circuits are also covered.
