Introduction
Induction motors (also called squirrel cage motors due to their unique rotor design) are the most common type of motor employed today. They are robust, simple in design and cheap to purchase and maintain.
The induction electric motor rotor consists of laminate steel sheets held together under compression by end plates. Conductor bars connect the two end rings together forming an effective short circuit.
